At Crowne Plaza, we welcome business clients here for an extended stay, or those relocating and looking for a temporary home in Melbourne – so much so, that we offer up to 30% off accommodation when you stay for five consecutive nights or more.

So what do you do with your spare time – after work has wrapped up for the day? We have some great ideas for our long-stay customers that will help your Crowne Plaza room feel like a home away from home.

Post-work play

Sometimes you need to unwind after work, so head down to Transit Rooftop Bar. Try their craft beers, cocktails and snacks in a wood-toned bar with a balcony and city views, plus live music. Or, right beside the Crowne Plaza Melbourne is The Wharf Hotel, a riverfront bar with a cosy fireplace with trivia and sports.

If you’d like to go further afield, head up Exhibition St to the very swanky 1806 Cocktail Bar that has a cocktail menu sorted by era. Speaking of food, the Little Red Pocket Bar is always fun for Japanese tapas, cocktails and top-shelf sake in a plush venue with live music and DJs on weekends.

If bars aren’t your thing, find out what’s happening in Melbourne with our events directory over at the blog, or plan a weekend getaway with our Best Of Melbourne section. And if all else fails, there’s always plenty of that famous Melbourne fashion only a short walk away…

Wining and dining

Looking for something a little more covered in white tablecloths? Book in advance to try the renowned Vue De Monde, which offers fine dining with sweeping city views. A tasting menu is served for lunch and dinner, ranging in price from $230 to $275 per person.

For something fun and lively, head to the Belgium Beer Cafe for mussels, chips and steaks, in a brasserie with art nouveau touches and a convivial terrace. Or just down the road on Bond St is Maha, a stylish spot where you can enjoy creative Middle Eastern fine dining.

If swanky restaurants aren’t your cup of tea, take yourself to Chin Chin for modern Asian with a super cool atmosphere. Or munch on the best burgers and milkshakes from Royal Stacks. Just don’t forget to try the frozen custard desserts topped with something sweet.

Keeping fit

Apart from our gym – for when that pesky Melbourne rain sets in – Crowne Plaza is set on the river to offer some of the best running spots for any visitor. Try a quick jog along the wharf, circling back through South Wharf after taking a right over the architectural Seafarers Bridge or Charles Grimes Bridge.

If you’re looking for a longer outing, head towards Flinders Street Station along the river front, turn right over Princes Bridge. Then head left into the extensive (and conjoined) Alexandra Gardens, Queen Victoria Gardens, and Kings Domain.

Finally, for those who aren’t a huge fan of jogging, head to any blue Melbourne City bike station, or the riverfront underneath Fed Square and hire a bike to ride along the river. If you continue up from Federation Wharf, you’ll take a pretty, scenic route through Birrarung Marr.

Home comforts

Sometimes, when you’re here for an extended stay, it’s the home comforts that make everything feel that little bit more relaxed in your spare time. If you’re booking a long term stay with us, we offer free buffet breakfast daily for up to 2 guests, and 20% off food and beverages at Clarendon St Grill and Lobby Bar or in-room dining.

Plus, with 20% off laundry, you’ll even have fresh clothes ready for your play time.
